Bayahibe: Snorkelling and Saona

Paradise underwater

The activity

Bayahibe is the gateway to the Eastern National Park, and to the country’s two finest islands: Saona and Catalina.

Catalina’s reef drops away as a wall, with sea fans and shoals of surgeonfish. At Saona, the water stays waist-deep for hundreds of metres: the largest natural pool in the Caribbean.

Highlights

  • Saona Island and its natural pool
  • Snorkelling on the reef off Catalina Island
  • Underground caves in the Eastern National Park
  • Shoals of tropical fish and sea fans
